..and Halloween's not far behind.
Perfect time for some good reads, in the form of Diliman and Trese.
Lemme tell you more of these gems:
Trese is written by Budjette Tan and illustrated by Kajo Baldisimo tells the story of Alesandra Trese a night club owner cum crime consultant whom the police turn to whenever a crime curbs into the supernatural.
Trese's plot is thick in mystery and horror. Each arc explores Filipino supernatural mythos intertwined in modern intrigue and crime. A lot of 'what ifs' are explored in this series: aswangs were crime lord, nunos in man holes and tikbalang business clans are what Trese is made of. All that, packed in with daggers-and-twin-pistols-ablazing action.
Diliman penned and drawn by Tobie Abad is a different species altogether. It delves deeper on the dark side, reaching deep into the recesses of the human psyche in search for the arcane and forbidden. Diliman is more subtle, unlike the action-oriented Trese but is a disturbing read and may catch first-time readers unaware with gore and blood splattered across its pages.
Now, click on the links and read. If you dare.
